Thank you for your interest in joining the cast of Christmas Stars. The information on this page will help you prepare to audition. There is a section for each choir, with a link at the bottom of the section to schedule your audition.

Christmas Stars Audition FAQ's
Please read the requirements before scheduling your audition.

Auditions, rehearsals and performances are held at the Xavier Fine Arts Theatre. Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings, with the Adult Choir starting on August 30th and the Cherub, Children and Youth Choirs starting on September 20th. Attendance each week is expected. Additional rehearsals for those in small group or solo roles are held on Sunday afternoons.

Children, Cherub, Youth Choirs

Cherub Choir (Grades K-2) 2026-2027 School Year

  • Child will audition individually
  • Child will sing, Row, Row, Row Your Boat
    Lyrics
  • Child will sing Jingle Bells
    Lyrics
  • Child will clap a basic rhythm pattern
  • Child will echo simple notes sung to them.
  • A simple movement sequence will be a part of the audition.

Children Choir (Grades 3-5) 2026-2027 School Year

  • Child will audition individually
  • Child will sing, Row, Row, Row Your Boat. May be asked to sing in a round with the director.

  • Director will test vocal range
  • Child will clap a basic rhythm pattern
  • Child will echo simple notes sung to them.
  • A simple movement sequence will be a part of the audition.

Youth Choir (Grades 6-8) 2026-2027 School Year

  • Child will audition individually
  • Child will sing, Row, Row, Row Your Boat individually and in a round with the director

  • A simple movement sequence will be a part of the audition.

Adult Choir (High School & above)

Vocal Audition Information

  • Adults will audition individually
  • Adults must prepare the following songs:
  • At the audition the directors may ask the adult to sing one, two or all three songs, please be prepared.
  • An accompanist will be present to play the selected songs during the audition; you do not need to sing acapella.
  • The director will do a vocal range check and discuss with the adult the best voice placement. (Soprano 1, Soprano 2, Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor, Baritone, Bass)
  • The directors will have call backs to finalize the casting after all of the regular auditions have closed. You will be notified if we need you to come in again on another day to try out for a specific song. The date for call backs has not been finalized yet.

Dance Audition Information

  • All Adult Choir candidates who are new to Christmas Stars must complete a dance audition with the choreographer. You do not need to schedule a separate time, but allow an additional 30-45 minutes.
  • Even returning featured dancers must audition again. You are not guaranteed the same spot as last year.
  • Candidates do not need to sign up for an additional audition time. A choreographer will teach individuals/small group a short dance.
  • For advanced individuals, a specific routine may be selected.
    Each individual will be evaluated as the group/individual performs.
  • Please don't lose any sleep...this will be fun!
  • Due to the number of various auditions taking place, please allow at least 30-45 minutes for your dance audition.
  • See you in your dancing shoes! **Please wear sneakers or a shoe you can move in (no sandals or bare feet are permitted).

  • Adults interested in an acting audition must practice the acting scene before the audition.
